TOURNAMENT RULES

The following is a list of rules which all club members agree to adhere to while fishing club sponsored tournaments. Please see a Board Member for clarification or interpretation if you have any questions. Violation of these rules may result in disqualification or other action as deemed appropriate by the Board of Directors.

  1. All rulings of the board members present will be final.

  2. Entrants must be a C-U Bass Club member.

  3. Entrants can not fish with a non-member in a tournament.

  4. Artificial baits only (pork baits acceptable).

  5. Only one line per entrant in the water at a time.

  6. 6. No trolling allowed.

  7. Only Largemouth, Smallmouth or Spotted (Kentucky) Bass, meeting lake minimum or larger, may be entered at the weigh-in.

  8. No drunkenness, disorderly conduct or profane language in public areas or weigh-ins.

  9. Fishing in an area posted or restricted by the lake authority, or an area designated off-limits by the board, will result in disqualification for that day.

  10. Individual creels must be kept and each fish entered must have been caught by the entering contestant. Each contestant must enter their fish in a separate bag at weigh-in.

  11. Five (5) fish limit and lake length will apply unless told differently by the board.

  12. No fishing within fifty (50) yards of another C-U Club boat that is anchored or tied off.

  13. The Board members (or appointed members) will handle the weigh-in and record the weights. All healthy bass must be returned to the lake.

  14. All contestants must wear a life vest when the outboard is running and the kill switch must be attached to the driver’s body.

  15. All boats must meet USCG specifications and all boat systems (livewells, trolling motor, etc.)Should be operational and in good working order and not cause a safety concern.

  16. All contestants should check in at the designated starting point thirty (30) minutes prior to the designated take-off to receive take-off order and to be advised of any pertinent information involving the tournament (early/late starts, off limits, livewell checks, etc.) Failure to be at the designated place or time could result in a disqualification.

  17. Each boat will be assigned a starting position and must idle in single file past the board member starting the tournament regardless of fishing area. An Exception may be made when trailering is warranted to a ramp on the same body of water as long as it is approved by the Board prior to take-off. The starter will provide information to the participants during the take off process. In all cases, the participant is responsible for knowing the requirements associated with that tournament.

  18. Boat partners will exchange seats midway through the tournament day unless both agree to other arrangements.

  19. Any member not in attendance when the tournament sign-up is scheduled, must contact a board member to sign them up and submit their fees. All fees are non-refundable! Anyone signing up after the meeting begins will do so as a non-boater.

  20. No racing during tournament hours.

  21. Boaters and non-boaters will share equally in fuel expenses in getting the boat to the lake, boat gas and any other fees.

  22. All contestants must check in at the end of the tournament day at the designated place and time. If late, one pound per minute up to ten (10) minutes late will be deducted from the weight of the fish caught that day. Any participant over ten (10) minutes late will be disqualified for that day. Any contestant choosing to leave early during a tournament day must notify a board member, verbally or in writing. Failure to notify a board member will result in loss of tournament points.

  23. If two boaters are partnered together and one chooses to fish in the other’s boat, that request cannot be refused. Anyone refusing their partner to fish will be disqualified.

  24. Weigh-in will start twenty (20) minutes after the scheduled end of the tournament at the designated place. Board members and their partners will weigh in first. Fish shall be brought to the scales in a club bag with a working aerator. Fish must be returned to the bag with aerator after being weighed, to be taken to a designated area for pictures. Fish must then be returned to the bag with aerator before being returned to the lake.

  25. All boat owners must have a copy of their boat insurance on file with the Board prior to their using the boat in a club tournament.

  26. Lights must be on if the start of the tournament is before official sunrise.

  27. POINT SCORING SYSTEM:
    A. Tournament participants will be ranked by the pounds and ounces of fish caught. Participants will receive one point for each ounce of fish caught, with all participants receiving ten (10) points for fishing the tournament. If a tie exists, they share the same points but the standing for the next participant is reduced by the number of participants in the tie.
    B. Ten (10) points for a Pick-A-Pard and five (5) points for each Club meeting attended.
    C. Four (4) ounces will be deducted at the scale for each dead fish entered.

  28. If a tournament is canceled everyone who signed up will receive ten (10) points. A participant may receive their money back and forfeit their points.

  29. When two boaters are paired together on a two-tournament weekend, the boaters will inform the Board of their plans (fishing together or each taking their own boat) so that starting positions and additional non-boater pairings can be made for the second day of the tournament.

  30. Each member must have a signed release and waiver of liability agreement on file with the Board prior to engaging in any Club activity.

  31. In the event a boat breaks down, doesn’t show up, etc., the stranded participants will be placed in the next available boat that is without a partner using the pairing sheet from that tournament day. This will be done by the tournament director or other board member.
